Guardian Angel Essential Oil Blend
Guardian Angel essential oil blend, by Revive, is the equivalent of Young Living’s White Angelica blend. If you recall from the Courage blend’s blog post, I apply that blend first and last in the Raindrop Technique, which is pretty much true. Technically, Guardian Angel is the first and last oil used in the Raindrop Technique, though it is an optional oil–but I will pretty much always use it. I love the smell of this blend, so let’s get into it.
The Nerdy Stuff
Guardian Angel (or White Angelica) is a blend of ten different essential oils in a sweet almond oil base. It contains bergamot, myrrh, geranium, sandalwood, ylang ylang, coriander, black spruce, melissa, hyssop, and rose essential oils. Below is a little more on the blend’s primary constituents.
Limonene
Extensively studied, limonene has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, antidiabetic, antiviral, and antinociceptive (inhibits pain detection) properties as well as gastroprotective effects. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29427589/)
Furanoeudesma-1,3-diene
A compound found in myrrh, this has significant pain-relieving properties, as well as anti-viral and antibacterial properties. (https://www.benchchem.com/product/b1196131)
Linalyl acetate
This is an acetate ester of linalool and has a floral, sweet, fruity smell used frequently in the making of perfumes. It also has analgesic, antispasmodic, anti-psoriatic, and antibacterial properties. (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10416234/)
Linalool
A naturally occurring alcohol, linalool has a floral, spicy aroma and has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer, anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), and antidepressant properties. What Does the Blend Do?
Guardian Angel is specially designed to create a peaceful, comforting environment. Similar to the Courage blend, it is used in the Raindrop Technique to balance the energy body and promote confidence, safety, and positivity.
Using Guardian Angel
I start the Raindrop Technique with Guardian Angel, applying it to my neck and throat then cupping my palms over the client’s face and asking them to inhale deeply. This sets a beautiful stage for deep relaxation. To end the session, I will apply a couple of drops to the client’s shoulders and neck before again cupping my hands over their face and asking them to breathe in the combined scents of the blend and the rest of the oils used in the Raindrop Technique. Guardian Angel acts as bookends for the Raindrop Technique.
Using Guardian Angel at home is easy to do, since it’s already diluted. However, this is another blend that is not recommended for ingestion–topical and aromatic use only–and should be avoided during pregnancy or if nursing. The blend can also cause sensitivity to the sun so avoid direct sunlight up to 12 hours after applying the blend to your skin.
This blend can be incredible to diffuse in your home, or used as a perfume–simply put a few drops into a roller bottle and top with a carrier oil of your choice (Revive suggests Argan oil) to create your own perfume roller. The oils in this blend are also fantastic for your skin so add a few drops to your moisturizer and apply!
