Soothe Essential Oil Blend
Soothe is Revive’s essential oil blend mimicking Young Living’s Aroma SiezTM blend. This blend has a lot of what is already used in the Raindrop Technique as single essential oils: Basil, marjoram, peppermint, and cypress–as well as lavender.
Soothe is the only essential oil (blend) that is not applied to the feet in the Raindrop Technique. It is applied to the back only, and is third from the last oil applied to the back.
The Nerdy Stuff
Obviously, since Soothe is a blend of essential oils, there is no Latin name or botanical family. The primary constituents of Soothe are pretty familiar, as they were covered in previous blog posts. Additionally, while Lavender provides its own properties to the mix, Linalool (below) is its primary constituent (one we’ve already covered with other essential oils).
alpha-Pinene
A monoterpene with a strong woody, piney scent, it is antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, antitumor, as well as neuro- and gastroprotective. (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0031942221002065)
Limonene
Extensively studied, limonene has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, antidiabetic, antiviral, and antinociceptive (inhibits pain detection) properties as well as gastroprotective effects. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29427589/)
Linalool
A naturally occurring alcohol, linalool has a floral, spicy aroma and has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer, anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), and antidepressant properties. Methyl chavicol
A colorless liquid with a strong, spicy green herbal odor, it is used in many aromatic products such as cosmetics, perfumes, detergents, and shampoos. It is useful for relieving muscle tension, stomach cramps, and is antispasmodic. It is also excellent for digestive issues arising from stress, respiratory problems, and mental fatigue. Menthol
Menthol has a distinct mint taste and aroma and famously creates a cooling sensation when applied to the skin. It produces a local anesthetic effect, making it great for relieving pain. (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jcpt.12679)
Sabinene
This is the monoterpene alcohol that gives marjoram its “marjoramy” scent and flavor. It has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties and is primarily used in the perfume and flavoring industries. What Does the Blend Do?
The Soothe essential oil blend is designed to rejuvenate your muscles, reduce nervous tension, and relax yet invigorate your body and mind. It is a beautiful blend of much of what is already used and with the addition of Lavender, Soothe really offers that soothing experience for which it is so aptly named.
Using Soothe
In the Raindrop Technique, this is the third to last oil I apply to your back. It is followed by peppermint and Courage to complete the oil application in the Raindrop Technique.
At home, you can use Soothe topically or aromatically. Like Courage, please DO NOT INGEST this essential oil blend, as it is not safe for internal use. I recommend diluting it at a 1:1 ratio (1 drop of Soothe to 1 drop carrier oil) before applying it to your skin to avoid any sensitivity issues. It’s fantastic to diffuse or apply topically after a workout or strenuous activity, or even if you just need a little pick-me-up to keep going while staying calm and relaxed.
